Credit Card Processing Options
Manual Processing
If you choose to manually process credit cards, the system will store the credit card data in a secure, password-protected location for your retrieval. Once you retrieve the information, you will then need to manually run the credit card through your own bank or merchant service.
Third Party Payment Processor
Many clients choose to use a third party payment processor (such as PayPal) to automatically process credit cards for them. Paypal is easy easy, secure and free to setup; however, they do charge a fee per transaction plus a small percentage of the sale amount. In the majority of cases, these fees are much less expensive than setting up your own merchant account and payment gateway.
Real-Time Processing
If your website is bringing in substantial sales, you may want to consider setting up a merchant account. You can then create an account with the payment gateway of your choice to accept credit cards in real-time.
